Meet Ms. Reyes, Room 996

Welcome! My name is Janelle Reyes and I have the honor to be your English teacher this year!  Just a little about myself: Professionally, I have a Bachelor Degree in English Literature and Liberal Arts and a Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis on adolescent literacy.  Besides loving my family, rock and roll, and Star Wars, I am a proud mom of five children ranging 14-22 years-old. I have been teaching since 2003 and just came back to the classroom after over a year off due to leukemia. In my cancer recovery, I have learned not to sweat the small stuff, to take things one day at a time, the value of patience, and to slow down to appreciate life with the people who I love the most.  I missed the classroom (really the students) and luckily have a second chance at life as I fulfill my purpose as teacher and mother. I must confess, I am a bit of a "mother hen" in the classroom as well.  Please know that I am here for you all and if you need help, don’t be afraid to ask me.  The only “stupid” question is the one that you don’t ask.

**For parents and students:  If you come to school feeling ill, please let me know (in person or email) so I can take the appropriate measures to guard my own "new" immune system in my recovery. Please feel free to use the classroom hand sanitizers in the front or back of the classroom.**

I am looking forward to a successful year.

Ms. Reyes
